DRC elections: concern for safety and escalating violence

At the start of the official election campaign in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Congolese and international human rights organizations have expressed their concern about the high political tension and deteriorating security situation.

They call upon all Congolese and international actors involved to take urgent measures to prevent electoral violence, better protect civilians and ensure credible, free and fair elections.
